There are many areas where your talents and interests will be useful. Would you like to chaperone a class field trip or a school dance? Maybe you would like to assist with a school project or carpool?
Before you can get
started as a volunteer or chaperone, the following steps are required:
Step I: Background Check
1. Obtain a criminal background check. All background checks must be obtained in the parish in which you reside.
Orleans Parish Residents, report to 715 South Broad Street on Monday, Wednesday or Friday. There is a $5.00 cash fee.
Jefferson Parish Residents, report to 1233 Westbank Expressway, Building A, Monday through Friday. There is a $50.00 fee.
2. Submit the completed background check to the school’s front office.
For clearance 1 of
2 things must occur:
(1) If the
background check states “No Record”, there are no further requirements.
(2) If the background check states “No Conviction”, additional steps are required. Contact Vicky Heidbrink at Vheidbrink@loenol.us or 504-304-3932.
Step II: Mandatory Volunteer’s Training
up and attend one Volunteer’s Training conducted by school officials.
trainings will focus on Child Abuse and Mandatory Reporting
as required by the Louisiana Department of Education. The school will also focus on bullying and how to report incidents of bullying.
Step III: Confirmation of Clearance
1. Prior to the event or day of volunteering contact office staff in person, by phone or email to confirm that all necessary documents are on file with the school.
The school will conduct several Parent/Community Volunteer Workshops throughout the year. Check the website occasionally for updated calendar of workshops.
